Mixed Media Canvas - Mystical Flutterings

 Hey Guy's :)

Someone has rightly said …. "good art is not what it looks like, but what it does to us".
And that's so true isn't it :)…. crafting and art are therapeutic which almost always stir up unknown feelings from inside us.

Today, I am sharing A mixed media canvas which is very close to my heart…. as it signifies, that no matter what the world throw at us … how dark our world seems to be, we shall always have butterflies:)… And blooming flowers.

The butterflies always invoke a sense of hope and some sunshine in our lives.

This is a 18" x 12" canvas, which is layered with lots and lots of paints and sprays to give it depth.

The butterflies are hand painted with acrylic paints.

I started the background by adhering some pattern paper from my stash, and then painting it with Gesso…. I have then stenciled on some details and added my mdf embelishments.

The best bit about mixed media projects is that I get to do a lot of stenciling and experimenting with modeling paste, medium gels and various embellishments till I am satisfied with the result.

The whole canvas is then sprayed with layers and layers of color using my favorite Lindy's stamp gang sprays… I sprayed with my mists till I achieved the vibrance of colors that I liked.

For this project I have used:  sweet violet poppy teal
                                              Mission bells brown
                                              Hydrangea Blue
                                              Canna lily burnt orange
                                              yellow rose of texas
After my canvas dried up completely .. I added my hand painted butterflies and the white roses with quilled green leaves :).

I finished off my canvas with a sentiment that says - "For butterflies shall never seize to fly". Coz that was the whole feeling behind my canvas :).

Lowed how it all got together so beautifully in the end.

Some close up pictures .. So that the texture at the back of my butterflies can be seen :)..

The final Canvas:)

My secret garden :)

Another wall clock :)....

This time .... I have a full blown story that totally made my clock what it is :).

I like to call it my secret garden timepiece.
The idea is that on the right there are birds in a cage and on the left the birds are free .....  A juxtaposition that love can either bind us or set us completely free.

And another.... Where from a cage, you can just hope and wish for freedom.
The beauty lies in the subtle texturing at the back and the positioning of the flowers around the dial :)....

Thus, my secret garden ... Wall clock.

Though there is a very evident flaw in this creation of mine ....  :)
Can u figure it out :)????

Art Journal - " believe in your dreams"

There are days, when you just have to remind yourself to believe in your dreams... to believe that the world is a beautiful place and that art is what make's this world worth living in :)

So... This time I decided to make myself an art journal..  precisely to remember all those things that I just mentioned.

Modelling paste , stencils, Lindy's sprays ... continue to be my ever faithful companions .. while working on mixed media projects :)

The butterfly is hand drawn and colored in with my beautiful set of
Derwent water color pencils.

I added some heat embossing details and finished off with A sentiment .. That exactly conveyed ... what I was thinking :)

"Believe in your dreams"

For .. It's spring time :)

This time around... my craft supplies were literally beckoning me to sit and craft.
To create something .. to make something fresh :)

And trust me,  creating n designing and crafting can be as therapeutic as any spa session for me:).

So, this time I wanted to make something with the fresh and flowery feel of spring ... for finally winters are done with :).

I ended up creating a mixed media clock ..  with flower's and birds.. about as springy as it gets.

and since I clicked a lot of pictures... this is going to be a picture heavy post:)

so .. that is how I started ... I used some modeling paste and a pretty ornate stencil to create the background

Used my favorite Lindy's starburst spray's to get the color ... only thing, instead of misting them all over, I used them with a brush so that I could get the desired effect ..
 then ...

mulberry flowers, some pattern paper... quilled leaves ... fussy cut birds ... And Laser cut mdf embellishments :)

And here we go :)

 The Final piece :)

Do let me know:). what you think of my , super special and very springy:)...  mixed media clock.

Since, I am entering this in the super fun lulupu birthday challenge this month:

A Lazy Blogger :)

Hey guys :), so when I actually opened my blog .. the realization finally dawned on me that I had not blogged for over 3months .. and we're well into march 2014 ..

And can you guess .. this year's resolution :D..
obviously .. to blog about my creations a lil bit more ... well , so much for resolutions :)

Anyhow, the one post that I really should have put up ... And that too very proudly :).. is that I got the opportunity to be a guest designer for LULUPU - THE CRAFT STORE :)

A SCRAPPY-LICIOUS LAYOUT

The theme was scrap - your-  scraps and here is what I created for it :)

Everything that I have used in this layout has been leftover from previous projects.

This is how I started … I first adhered strips of newspaper to a rescued chipboard and then, arranged my strips of pattern paper on a (previously cut out) heart

I then applied a light coat of Gesso on the newspaper (heat dried it ) and then misted it with Lindy’s starburst sprays.

I used a TCW stencils and modeling paste in the background …  and then again misted it till I achieved the effect that I liked

I then pasted my scrap pp heart ( which I lightly edged with distress ink) and then embellished it with some hearts that were again the negatives from a previously made frame.
